Race feature: Take on a challenge unknown

The Punisher Ultra is set back among the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Natural Beauty (AONB) dominated by a central upland landform of gritstone fells covered with tracts of heather-covered peat moorland and blanket bog. Now if these words sound quaint, time to let the challenge seep in…
If you take on the The Punisher, prepare for mental warfare! There is an ascent profile of 8000ft – put into perspective, that’s like climbing Ben Nevis. Twice. What’s more, you won’t know when the race will end. It will play with your mind, it will make you want to quit. Only the toughest, most mentally prepared runners will overcome the unknown terrain and distance of The Punisher.
If you crave that extra bit, if you thrive seeing just how far you can push yourself, if you really want to earn that bling… then the Punisher Ultra is for you.
The Punisher is unique among other Ultras. Racers will be given the next stage of the race (a map) at each checkpoint. There is the option to take it on knowing the distance (but those opting for this are sworn to secrecy!).
You won’t be the only ones making use of The Bow Fells on the day. It is the home of magnificent birds of prey, the Hen Harrier and the Merlin amongst other birds and wildlife. This give the event a fantastic feel of being immersed in nature and might just give you that bit extra to inspire you to the finish line!
