As the summer months come to a close we find ourselves reflecting on the past four months. Our successes, perhaps goals we fell short of?
For Race Space, summer is a busy time of year, some of the biggest and most anticipated race events happen during these months. We don’t ‘toot our own horn’ all that often, but this summer has been a knockout success for Race Space and our partners, both for event turnouts and feedback, so cheers to that! Really it’s you, the participants, we have to thank!
We’ve selected a few highlights from race organisers who have ticked all the boxes this year. Take a look, and if you missed out, make sure to get stuck into one or two next summer.
Food & Fun Run – Marathon Du Malton
We have loads of fantastic fun runs, 5ks and 10ks throughout the year. There was one event, however, that stood out and we’re still receiving praise from participants in respect to how the event went.
Marathon Du Malton, a race inspired by the Marathon Du Medoc in France’s wine region, is a foodie runner’s dream. Starting and finishing in Malton’s pretty Market Place, there were various food and drink stops around the beautiful 10k course. Runners were encouraged to take their time, pace themselves and enjoy the party atmosphere, fancy dress and gourmet food stops. Yes… you heard that right, a run with gourmet food stops, wine and beer. I don’t know about you but that sounds like the ultimate in summer events!
“A mouth-watering way to end the season.” This Duathlon was sold out well before the event kicked off, in-fact it still hasn’t taken place but it has been such a successfully run event in the past that people were frantic to get a place.
The event consists of a straight up Run, Bike, Run – 5k, 20k, 5k, taking in the superb coastal road of Seaburn, and continues with a fast and fantastic 4 lap bike course, bookended with a picturesque run along Seaburn & Roker promenade.
Interested in participating? There are still places for the relay event so gather your team, quickly, and book a spot. Sun City Duathlon Tickets
Man vs Machine Race – Man V Barge
Yes, we recognise that this is a unique category but this one is such a favourite of runners that we couldn’t leave it out. For this reason it has been given, essentially, its own category, although we wouldn’t be surprised to find other races that are suitable.
Race a barge from Diggle to Marsden, keep pace or blow the doors off this 5 miler, a serious favourite of locals. The event sold out entirely months before race day. If you’re interested in particpating for next year you better book your spot. Tickets for Man V Barge 2019 here.
